What to Include in Your Travel Journal.
Before taking off on your next vacation it is a good idea to brainstorm what kinds of items you want to be on the lookout for to include in your travel journal. As each trip is special and unique, so will be what you choose to include, but here are a few things I like to collect. Comment below to let me know what you like to put in your travel journal!
1. Photos from your trip.
Of course! Be it from your Instagram or camera roll – lots and lots of photos!
2. Ticket and Ticket Stubs
Keep your ticket stubs from plays, museums, airlines or trains. These items are great for chronicling your journey.
I found some beautiful vintage postcards on my last trip to Paris. Postcards are a great addition to your layout and can be perfect for journaling as well!
4. Business Cards
I always keep business cards from restaurants I go to, stores I love, etc etc. They make great mementos for travel journals and are often cute and artsy themselves!
5. Journal Entries
These can be placed on postcards, index cards, ephemera etc. They can be typed for a cleaner, more organized look, or handwritten for a touch of whimsy. Journal entries speak the story you want to convey in your travel journal and can preserve those precious memories that fade as time goes on. These make great backgrounds for your travel journals. You can put notes or stickers on them to illustrate your journey. They also make great mats for your photos.
7. Hotel Keys
Most hotels just throw out the key when a guest checks out – so ask if you can keep yours! They make a fun addition to any travel diary.
8. Scrapbook paper
I always love decorating my travel journals with different colors of paper to make sure I create a certain feeling of a place I visited.
9. Stickers and Washi Tape
Get souvenir stickers! They add a fun, colorful touch. Washi tape is also great for adhering things, as a border or to decorate page ends.
I love pasting brochures from activities I did in my travel journal. It is a great way to detail the itinerary. You can also cut out pictures or excepts from your travel guide and paste those in.
